the crucial missing letter...

overcast, cool, then sunny and warm! temps 17-25

Another unpredictable day! But now it's mainly sunny and warm. Lovely. Marjorie arrived...since it was going to be rainy and cool I planned a claypot chicken for dinner...but then it's become the most beautiful day. Oh well.

It's lovely to be sitting with Michael and Marjorie on the screen porch, eating chocolate ice cream and drinking pink lemonade! An unexpected summer gift.

Had a quiet day today, now that the editing's done...just percolating...tiny little things occur. A better word here...a slight theme that could be subtly enhanced there. The book's at that wonderful, light polish stage.

Will polish for most of this week.

By the way, I mentioned in yesterday's blog a dessert Pat is making for tomorrow's luncheon. When I went back to re-read the post I roared with laughter to find I'd described it as a blueberry and pea crumble. Blech.

It's actually a blueberry and pear crumble. Much better.

Talk to you soon...

I think that I have to clarify that I really did wonder what blueberry and pea crisp (or crumble) was. I didn't think it could be peas as in green peas that come out of a pod, but I wondered if sweet peas and their blossoms were edible and were good with blueberries. Also, I admit ignorance to the ways of Canadian cooking! (All I know is the I would love to eat anything offered at the Bistro in Three Pines!)

I wasn't making fun of a typo n case anyone thinks that. I know that the blog is written on the fly and not meant to be scrutinized for spelling problems!

--Marjorie from Connecticut (who is reading all of the older blog posts and has just completed all of 2007. So delighted to see Michael's posts. Laughed and laughed about how to use a computer mouse!) Oh, and one last thing. I heard a rumor that "The Brutal Telling" has been shortlisted for the Barnes & Noble Recommends list. Keeping my fingers crossed that B&N has the good sense to choose the book and sell lots and lots of them this fall.

Well, blueberries and peas are about the same size and the blue and green would look pretty good together: as a quilter this is my main concern which may explain why I've never achieved success as a cook.

I was seriously about to ask for the recipe. Now that I know the story, I will try and create something of my own using blueberries and peas. If anything good comes out of this, I will let you know.
Can't wait for the book to be available.
You are a great blogger (I am a bit jealous).

Dear Lil,

Yes, yum...how great to have days like that...and yesterday was a delight too!

DEar Marjorie,

you really are kind. I would take offense to anything you write, and can't image you'd ever be anything other than very funny and warm and supportive. As I said, I'd just that moment read the typo myself and couldn't stop laughing. it is typical of both my typing and my cooking...and could very well be right. Did you ever see the episode of Friends where Rachel mistakenly combine the recipes for Trifle and shepherd pie? Hilarious. Mostly because I could absolutely see myself doing that, and Pat's Crisp seemed in the same culinary catagory.

Take care of yourself -

Dear Lee Ann,

But, I be the arrangement of the food on the plate is exquisite.

DEar Pierre,

How wonderful and thrilling! If you do manage to come up with a recipe that is yummy combining blueberries and peas, please let me know - i"ll make it a Three Pines bistro dessert...or whatever.
