NYT list Again! And, a MacBook!

overcast, drizzle, but clearly later - apparently! temps 10

Doug arrived this morning...drove through the night from Toronto. Quite a smart thing to do since the roads are crazy during the day with people doing Thanksgiving travel.

Had blueberry pancakes and bacon for breakfast...and we're now all chatting and catching up. The wonderful Nancy has come by to help with our latest purchase...

Wait for it...

No, not a pony...

A MacBook!!!! Yay. But Nancy is getting it all configured and installing stuff. They would have done it at the shop but we needed to rush to get Rob and Audi at the airport.

If I write a long enough blog, the breakfast dishes will be done. I can hear the clinking from downstairs.

Can hardly wait to take the MacBook on tour next week.

Thank you ALL so much for your advice. And to the lovely Bev in Peterborough for her help too.

It's a beautiful little machine. I'm very excited about it.

And, another piece of fabulous news. We're on the New York Times list for the second week in a row. Dropped to 24th - but I am thrilled!!! And I didn't even have to buy 10,000 copies myself, though I was willing to.

We're hoping to have a quiet day here, talking, going for walks, eating pies, and reading by the fire. Will talk to you tomorrow.

Thank you for all you give to me.

Hello Louise, I hope all is well at this present time.

My name is Sandra and I am the receptionist at the Auberge Lakeview Inn, I bought your book for the first time, honestly at the begining it was because you were a local writer and being a writer myself(not proffesionaly) I wanted to support while I could a local writer.

But then i have to say I started reading the book, and now I am hooked.

I just wanted to take the time to thank you for being so kind I did not have a chance to say very much,(working an all)lol. But it was a Huge pleasure to have you here at the Auberge Lakeview Inn, and we hope to see you again soon.

Godbless and take care most of all may you forever be inspired to keep writing and to inspire us all.
Happy thanksgiving.
Sandra

Dear Louise,

This is such a rich time for you with family, and friends, and your NYT bestseller list, and you will love your new MacBook. I so enjoy your way of being. First you decide to wait and see, and then you dive right in!!! And you still have time to ask about me?!? I'm fine, working with an early cold, that leaves my voice somewhere else, but that may be a good thing! I saw a series of pictures of autumn foliage, and there were the Eastern Townships. that is where you live? Anyway, simply beautiful. We're in our foggy phase, getting ready for rain, which we desperately need. Enjoy, enjoy. Carpe diem!

Dear Sandra,

I remember you well! And how lovely you are. You knew Janet, too, from school if I remember well.

Aren't you amazing, to want to support an anonymous townships writer. So generous. And now to take the time to find me and say you actually read the book and liked it!!! Well - many, many thanks. See you soon. And may the muse live gently on your shoulder. Like wings.

Dear Lil,

Sorry to hear about the cold, but it does sound as though you are well in every other way.

Yes - so like my life. No, no, no...yes! Not only do I not know what the Universe will do, I have no idea what I will do next. Makes for an exciting life. I just wish I'd consult with myself sometimes.

To the deleted message person.

I'm so sorry I had to do that...if I could have edited it, I would have, but I had an email from a reader who wondered if you'd just given away 'whodunnit' so I checked, and indeed, obliquely, you had. I know you didn't mean to - but it was there.

It is very difficult, I realize...especially with this book.

Thank you for your tolerance - and understanding.

Louise,

There isn't a true mystery reader who doesn't thank you from the bottom of their hearts for removing any post that could spoil the new book for anyone. Even if you erred on the side of caution, it is very much appreciated. Not everyone can read a new book as soon as it is released and it would have been a shame to take away anything from their reading experience. So, thank you. I am sure that the poster will understand as well.

Hi Marjorie,

Thank you! And I know how difficult it is not to let something inadvertently slip.

What fun to have the color now for you. Ours is just peaking - will be well past prime in a week.

Here in the Washington, DC area, our leaves haven't even started turning. We are having a warm October so far and haven't even had an inkling of a frost. Usually, the leaves start to turn by now, but not this year.

Congratulations on being on the NY Time's list 2 weeks in a row. For anyone who's read The Brutal Telling will know it's well deserved.

I know that you are happy with your new MacBook and hope you continue to enjoy all of its possibilities. I can't use a laptop of any kind because I don't like the keyboards. I need a full-size keyboard so am stuck with my desktop.

Happy Thanksgiving! Bon Appetit!

Dear Bev,

Isn't autumn glorious? Woke up today to dreadful weather and now the sun is out - stunning.

I know what you mean about the keyboards...so many extra letters as I hit two keys at once!

Dear Louise,
I did my part to keep you on the best seller list. Bought the last copy available in Coles, Bedford, NS, last week and am trying to "save" it for our trip to Lennoxville. Like trying to save a box of chocolates.

Have fun in Houston. They have wonderful restaurants and shops.
