Nero Award!

clear, mild, temps 40

Bury Your Dead just won the Nero Award here in New York City. It was given out at a gala at the MetLife building. wonderful, wonderful evening. Lots of fun - whole evening celebrating the works of Rex Stout (who, of course, created Nero Wolfe). Mr Stout's daughter and some of his grandchildrn (and even a great granddaughter) were there too.

Very, very fun evening...and what a great honour. Wow! Michael and I went with Sarah Melnyk, my publicist at Minotaur Books. she's just terrific.

I wanted you to know right away. We have some photos etc, which I'll put on the next blog entry.

We're still in new york on Sunday - having Afternoon Tea at the Plaza with someone from my british publisher, Little, Brown. Imagine that - I feel so terribly fortunate. Wow.

Wonderful! I lift my glass to you! (An icy cold Coke in a tiny bottle, just heavenly.)

I am so thrilled at the warm reception "Bury Your Dead" is receiving that it brings tears to my eyes--I can only begin to imagine how you're feeling.

Thanks for taking us along for the ride.

Oh, and check out this just-published list from the NY Times of the year's favorite mysteries.

I think the "favorite cozy" has potential. :)

Congratulations Louise!! It's always nice to see a Canadian do so well in the writing world. Just started reading "A Trick of the Light" and have to say so far it is my absolute favourite! Can't wait for the new book!

Congratulations Louise! I LOVED Bury Your Dead, not just because of the wonderful story and characters but because I love Quebec City so much and it was such fun to find all the locales that Gamache visited. We actually found the Lit and His purely by accident on our way down to rue St Jean for supper one night! Again congratulations -- all of the accolades are truly deserved.

Congratulations from the Midwest! This book touched me the most. You are a wonderful writer and you deserve every award. You'll need to build an addition to your home for the trophys. I don't want to wish the months away, but your next book needs to hurry and get here. (I'm so glad we met you in New Hampshire!)

It was such a fun evening and so enjoyable to hear your lovely acceptance speech at the Black Orchid Banquet. Thanks for the personal touch with your inscription in my copy of "Bury." I'm thrilled that you liked the limerick and so tickled that we both had crushes on the same terrific guy. I guess our husbands should be flattered that we chose them!
